STACEY BRANT

Stacey Brant, 82, 530 N. East, died Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Brant was born Aug. 25, 1894, in Shelby County, the son of Wade and Tina (Hawkins) Brant.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He was the recipient in 1954 of the Silver Beaver Award in scouting, having been active in Boy Scouts for many years.

Mr. Brant was a member of the Rotary Club and served in World War I. He had lived in Greensburg since 1938, and prior to that he lived in the Waldron community on a farm.

He was also connected with the Blue River Dairy Co., where he was a field man. Later he was a state inspector for the Dairy Association.

He was married to Nell Howard Nov. 25, 1919, in Westport, and she survives.

Mr. Brant is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Earl (Alphea) Miller, Shelbyville, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Wilson Wade Brant, two sisters, Sarah Gilmor and Letha Showers.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Greensburg with Dr. Charles Baxter officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at Shelbyville. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, with public visitation at the church from 11 a.m. Saturday until time of the funeral.
