Eighty-seven years old, Dr. Mecom died January 17 at the home of a son in Jackson, La., where he had made his home since 1952 when his wife died. Active in civic and church affairs in Wisner, Dr. Mecom had served as member of the Wisner board of aldermen and on both the oficial board and the board of trustees of the Methodist church.
Surviving him are two sons, Dr. Wilbur E. Mecom, Jackson, and Russell S. Mecom, Jackson and Russell S. Mecom, Hebert; a sister, Mrs. W. S. Culpepper, Monroe; and a brother, Phillip Mecom, Shreveport.
Pallbearers were W.A. Tucker, W.C. Knotts, W.B. Huggins, C.H. Foster, A.D. Moore and W.J. Sheffield.
