Fred was the son of Wilheim William and Maria Fredericka Katarina (Jost) Bunse. He married Augusta (Golnick) in 1891 and they had four children: Hedwig Adeline 'Hattie', Hulda Maria, Louis Wilhelm and Melita Bertha 'Barbara'. After his wife died in 1906 Frederick married Ida (Kliente). No known children from that union.

Fred Bunse a resident of Nunda township since October 1874 passed away at his home Saturday Feb. 11th at the age of 63 years, 2 months and 25 days, after a lingering illness of four and half years.
The funeral services to be held on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 1:30 at the home and 2 p.m. at the Lutheran church in Emmons.
