A. M. Mattingly of Arcola Dies

Arcola, Ill. — Ambrose M. Mattingly, 88, died at his home here Saturday night at 11:30 o'clock after a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at St. John's Catholic church in Arcola with Rev. Father Martin J. Reidy officiating. Burial will be in Arcola cemetery.

Mr. Mattingly was born Jan. 30, 1861, in Hardinsburg, Ky., a son of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mattingly. He was first married to Anna King who died two years later. He married the former Addie Milan in Hardinsburg in 1887. They moved to the Arcola community in 1912 where he farmed. Mr. Mattingly retired in 1927 and moved to town.

He is survived by his widow; eight children, Mrs. Anna Barh and Mrs. Alan Lane of East St. Louis, Mrs. Adam Smith and Dennie Mattingly of Arcola, Mrs. William Smith of Alton, Mrs. Melvin Duncan of Decatur, Mrs. Harry McCallister of St. Louis, and Owen Mattingly of Charleston; 23 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren; a brother J. B. of Peoria, and a sister Mrs. Mary Patterson of Hardinsburg.
