Leonard V. "Shag" Caton, 87, of Frackville, passed away peacefully, in his sleep and joined his Father in heaven Friday at Shenandoah Senior Living Center, Shenandoah.
Born in Frackville, he was a son of the late Vertal and Myrtle Miller Caton.
He had been employed as a welder for Parrish Steel, Reading, until his retirement.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church, Frackville, Buck Busters hunting club, Brandonville, Park Crest Fish and Game Association and Whippoorwill Dam Association, Frackville.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II having served on the USS Beatty.
Shag was a gentle, kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his son, Leonard L. in 1990; his granddaughter, Jodi Lynn Ochenrider; his grandson-in-law, Roy Ochenrider; two brothers, Wayne, missing in action during Korean War and Raymond Caton; and his sister, Joan Bracey.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, the former Naomi Seitzinger Caton; daughters, Naomi L. Vigoda, Pottsville, and Mary Lou, wife of George Leiby, Ringtown; grandchildren, Heath Leiby, Heather Snyder, Michael and Andrew Vigoda; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter; a brother, Howard Caton, Allentown; a sister, Alma Auld, Gordon; and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Frackville.
