Born in Bucks County, PA. and married to Maryetta Closson 5/12/1859 in Bucks Co., PA. by Joseph Hough Esq. (daughter of Amos and Mary Closson). They had 3 children, Alfred T., Ellen Amanda and Watson Abraham Alshouse. Maryetta died 1865. Samuel then married Mary C. Sine 11/13/1866 Pt. Pleasant, Bucks Co., PA.(daughter of Solomon and Sarah Ann (Closson) Sine. Children of Samuel and Mary were George Lincoln, Virden C., Charles, John A., Isabella, Harry, Frank Elwood and Carrie Alshouse. Samuel and Mary moved to Bureau Co., IL. about 1867. In the winter of 1868 Samuel united with the Baptist Church of Heaton Point. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. A.A. Hobson with the assistance of Rev. E. Burgi, pastor of Red Oak Evangelical Church. There is no marker on Samuel's grave. Cause of death was cancer of the spleen.
