Bertha Sechler, 89, Somerset RD 7 died Dec. 27, 1977 in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Aug. 6, 1888 in Elk Lick Township. She was the daughter of Zachariah and Maggie (Smith) Faidley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin E. Sechler in 1932, one son, Fay, in 1977 and also two grandchildren, one great grandchild and one great-great-grandchild. Survived by these children: Ethel, wife of Wilbert Brant, Friedens RD 1; Miss Pauline at home; Mrs. Dorothy Lichty and Mrs. Catherine Winters, both from Somerset; Margaret, wife of Clarence McVicker, Stoystown RD 1 and a stepdaughter, Lola Swearman, Meyersdale RD 1; 17 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She was a member of the Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ and the Ladies Guild of the Church. Friends are being received at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Wayne Sautter officiating, assisted by Jefferey Welsh. Interment, St. Paul's Cemetery, Elk Lick Township.
