Phyllis E. Higbee, 73, of Marshalltown, Iowa, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown, Iowa.

Phyllis was born May 30, 1939 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Homer and Eva Knox Adams. She was raised and educated in the Iowa school district graduating high school from Eddyville, Iowa. After high school Phyllis went on to obtain her cosmetology degree in Colorado. She was united in marriage to Chris Higbee in Wichita, Kansas. Phyllis was previously employed at Trinity Lutheran Church as a custodian and most recently worked for the senior citizen center. Phyllis had a true passion for helping others in life; she also enjoyed playing bingo, card games, drinking coffee and loving her family.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Douglas (Deb) Hasselman, Rodger Hasselman and Sean Clements; grandchildren: Antonia (Robert) Koenigsdorf, Rachel (Jessie) Reed, Nicki, Joshua, Jeremiah and Heather Schoenherr and their spouses, Jesse and Amber Clements; seven great grandchildren; two brothers: James (Shirley) Adams, William (Ruth) Adams; two sisters: Marian Shelley and Sally (Carl) Coulliette.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Chris; two children: Kimberly and Richard; and one brother Steve.
