Mrs. Julia A. Hicks Burkett, 83, 10964 Grindstone Hill Road, former resident of Coseytown and widow of Ray Burkett, died early the morning of Oct. 29, 1981, in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Allen and Evelyn Summers, Greencastle.
Born in Coseytown, March 24, 1898, she was the daughter of the late Albertus A. and Emma Brindle Hicks. Her husband died in 1964.
Mrs. Burkett was a member of the Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church, Coseytown.
In addition to her daughter, she is survived by two other daughters; Mrs Floyd (Olive) Nisewonder, Greencastle; Mrs. Gordon (Jeannette) McMahel, Hagerstown, Md.; three sisters; Mrs. Rhoda Swisher, Mrs. Velda Myers, and Mrs. Ferne Tritle, all of Greencastle; two brothers; Alvin A Hicks, Greencastle; Glenn D. Hicks, Maugansville, Md.; Six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren and five stepgrandchildren. A son, Grover Burkett, preceded her in death in 1977.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Pleasant Hill United Brethren Church with the Rev. Russell Crawford, the Rev. Arnold Wagaman and the Rev. Timothy Shatzer officiating.
Burial will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Friends may call at the Harold M. Zimmerman Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and at the church one hour before services Saturday.
