Ruth E. Brenneman

Ruth Elvira (Gingrich) Brenneman, 86 of Albany died Wednesday. She was born in Roseland Neb., to Marshall and Jessie (Hoylman) Gingrich. She lived in Nebraska and in Kalispell, Mont., before moving to Oregon in 1920.
She married John Mark Brenneman on Sept. 7, 1930 in Albany, and their first home was in Corvallis. They moved to Albany in 1942.
After rearing three sons, Mrs. Brenneman worked many years at the Cornet Store, Whitaker Hardware and Jean's Health Food store. She retired in 1986. Following a lifelong passion for flowers, especially roses, Mrs. Brenneman was an avid gardener. Her grandchild and great-grandchildren were the center of her life.
Surviving are son Gerald of Albany, Donald of Gearhart and John of Salem; and sisters Della Unruh of Keiser, Esther Elston of Albany, Audrey Brenneman of Corvallis and Doris Ellsworth of Salem. There are 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brothers Elvin, Mahlon and Allen and sister Mary and Dorothy died before her.
Visitation will be until 5 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at AAsum Funeral Home. Mrs. Brenneman's funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Albany Mennonite Church with Pastor Lynn Miller officiating. Entombment will follow at Willamette Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the Albany Mennonite Home Foundation.
