Mr. Jerry Wayne Laird, 76, a resident of Hazlehurst, MS died July 1, 2013 at his home. He was born in the Gum Grove community of Lincoln County on March 6, 1937; he was the son of Maxie Laird, Sr. and Ola Moak Laird, both of whom preceded him in death.

Mr. Laird was also preceded in death by his brother, Maxie Laird, Jr. and his sister, Laurie Guitreau. He served in the Air Force and was a retired industrial insulator. He also was a retired bus driver for Wesson Attendance Center and a member of Johnson Grove Church of Christ.

Visitation will be held, Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive. Funeral services will be in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Johnson Grove Church of Christ Church cemetery.

Mr. Laird is survived by his wife of 53 years, Gwen Brown Laird; his daughters, Jeri Lynn Laird and Susan Hall and her husband Daryl, all of Hazlehurst; his four grandchildren, Brittany Herrington, Chris Blackmon, Jeremy Greer and Austin Laird; and two great-grandchildren, Parker Greer and Georgia Kate Herrington.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Brookhaven Funeral Home, 894 Natchez Drive, Brookhaven.
