Elizabeth Louise "Betty Lou" Dosland Meek was born June 29, 1927 in rural Perley, Minnesota to Gjert Johan and Bessie Amanda Brodahl Dosland. She was baptized at the Bethania Lutheran Church, rural Perley, MN on July 6, 1927. She was confirmed at the Bethania Lutheran Church on May 18, 1941. She attended rural school near her home and graduated from Borup High School, Borup, MN in 1945. Betty furthered her education by attending St. Luke's School of Nursing in Fargo, ND, graduating as a registered nurse in 1948. She was a registered nurse for more than 40 years, a profession she cherished.
Betty was proud of her Norwegian ancestry and had visited Norway. She was a member of Sons of Norway.
On December 30, 1950, Elizabeth married William Oliver Meek in Pasadena, California. They had two daughters, Deborah Lynne Singer (23 Jan 1952-10 Nov 2009) and Suzanne Gayle Duval. The family lived in Chatsworth for a brief time, and eventually settled in Glendale, California. In later years, Bill and Betty lived in Escondido and San Marcos, California.
Betty passed away 21 Apr 2009 at the age of 81. Funeral services were held at Christ the King Church in Fallbrook, California, where she was a member. Bill passed away several months later, on 13 Aug 2009 at the age of 82.
Betty was proud of her Norwegian ancestry and had visited Norway. She was a member of Sons of Norway.
