William (Bill) Thompsen, 60, passed away Friday, Feb 18, 1972 at the Myrtue Memorial hospital in Harlan following a lengthy illness.
The son of Thomas and Marie (Eggers) Thompsen, he was born in Minden, Iowa Oct. 1911. He was united in marriage to Adele League April 27, 1938 at Walnut. To this union three children were born. They have lived in Walnut all of their married life.
Mr. Thompsen was a truck driver before his health failed and he was forced to retire.
He is survived by his widow, Adele; two daughters, Mrs. Jack (Mary Lou) Higgins and Mrs. Wm. (Jeri Anne) McDaniel, both of Omaha; one son, Wm L Thompsen of Walnut; six sisters, Mrs.Harry Carlson of Harbor City Calif., Mrs. Homer Stowe of El Cajon, Calif., Mrs. Harold Goodman of San Diego, Calif., Mrs. Pearl Fisk and Mrs. Ralph Dabelstein of Omaha, and Mrs. Louis Kibet of Council Bluffs; one brother, LaVerne Thompsen of Logan; four grandchildren, other close relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, Feb 21 at 2 p.m. at Berthusen Knutson Funeral Home in Walnut. Pastor Ralph Chandler and Pastor Jerry Howarth officiated. Internment was in the Walnut cemetery.
Pall bearers were Orris Drake, Ralph Ridnour, Merlyn Fooken, Robert Fresner, Donald Bladt and Merlin Sorensen.
Serving as honorary bearers were Melvin Jacobsen. Carl Osler, Harold Jacobsen, George Fell, Rayond Towne, Robert Walter and Elwyn Ferry. (Walnut Bureau, Feb. 24, 1972)
