Arabella married Alexander Hite in October 1829 at Utica, Ohio. In 1843 they moved to Illinois and in 1853 to California, living in Sacramento County ever after. For many years, they farmed near the Six-Mile House on the lower Stockton Road. Alexander and Arabella were the parents of 13 children, and at the time of their golden wedding anniversary, 10 were living.
At 88 years of age, Arabella died of apoplexy and old age. She was residing at 1108 J Street at the time. She was survived by her children Absalom Hite, Isaac Hite, John Hite, Daniel Hite, Elizabeth Johnston, Mary Sanford, Rachel Adams, and Annie Slawson. She was predeceased by her husband Alexander, her son Alexander, and her daughters Sarah and Emma.
The funeral was held from the First Christian Church at 16th and L streets.
