Gloria T. (Orlando) Ratcliff, 89, was a lifelong resident of Billings. She passed away on June 28, 2013, at the Billings Clinic. Her parents, August and Angelina Orlando, immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's and she was born on Oct. 28, 1923. She was the ninth sibling in a family of ten, (four brothers and five sisters).

Gloria was in the first graduating class of the new Senior High School in 1941. She attended Johnston School of Business. Early employment was at the downtown Woolworths and she also worked early on for an insurance firm as a secretary. She was employed with the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs prior to getting married.

She met her husband to be through a mutual friend at work and was married on Jan. 8, 1955, to Edward (Eddy) Ratcliff in Saint Patrick's Church. In November of 1955 Gloria gave birth to her first son David and in August of 1960 Gloria gave birth to her second son Joseph.

Gloria was a full-time Mom for many years and her prime focus was her family. Some of her best friends were her sisters and she enjoyed many of the weekly family gatherings and the annual vacations to Illinois and California to visit family. She loved to cook and her spaghetti and meatball dinners were out of this world. She enjoyed playing the piano, league bowling and learned how to swim at a later age. Starting in the early 70's Gloria worked for the U.S. Geological Survey (Mining Division) and the Bureau of Land Management retiring in 1985 after over twenty years of government service. She was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees for many years.

In September of 1984 Gloria became a Grandmother when Dave's wife Molly gave birth to a son. Joel is her only grandchild and he made her very happy in 2011 when his wife Tiffany gave birth to her great-grandson Asher.

She is survived by son Dave (Judy) of Ellensburg, Wash.; son Joe (Renee) of Billings; grandson Joel (Tiffany) of Ellensburg, Wash.; great-grandson Asher and step great-granddaughter Timber. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Pickett (Jim), brother Bob Orlando (Gladys) both from Billings; and many nieces and nephews living throughout the country.

She was preceded in death by her husband Eddy in December of 2004. She lost brothers John Orlando, Emil Orlando and Ernie Orlando. She lost sisters Anne Messer, Emma Pirami, Helen Sisco and Clara Brutto. She was also preceded by her daughter-in-law Molly, niece Janie Pickett, niece Louise Adams and nephew Rick Orlando.

We would like to Thank the doctors and nurses at the Billings Clinic for their care and compassion and to the caregivers at Canyon Creek Memory Care facility in Billings.

Mom was one in a million and she will be greatly missed by those who truly knew her. Her suffering is now over and she is reuniting with those who have gone before her. We Love You Mom and we will never forget you.

Visitation for Gloria will be Monday, 1 to 8 p.m. Vigil service is Tuesday, 7 p.m. at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass is Wednesday 10 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church.

Rite of Committal will be in Mountview Cemetery.

Reception will follow Committal at St. Thomas.

Arrangements are in the care of Dahl Funeral Chapel.
