Clifford was a professional rider and a professional equestrian trainer for Competitive Hunters and Jumpers and was a member of the United States Equestrian Federation. He operated his own equestrian business, KC Enterprizes. Clifford enjoyed fishing and woodcarving. He had been a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Portland, Connecticut.In addition to his wife and parents, Clifford is survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law, Elise and David O'Brien, of Portland and Nancy and James Droit, of Glendale, Arizona; his brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Jane Gustafson, of East Haddam, CT; his brother-in-law, Peter Van Aken and his wife, Candace, of Winchester, Massachusetts. He was predeceased by his sister, Carol Van Aken, in 1999.Private funeral services and burial in the Swedish Cemetery, Portland; a noon Memorial Service August 8, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of North Stonington, 793 Pendleton Hill Road, North Stonington, Connecticut.
