"Leona Loethen, 87, St. Thomas, died Sept. 27, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center. She was born Feb. 23, 1913, in Argyle, a daughter of Frank and Catherine Hoeller Wieberg. She was married June 27, 1934, in Argyle, to August Raymond Loethen, who died June 29, 1962. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas, and the St. Thomas Sewing Circle.
Survivors include: one son, Jerome Loethen, Jefferson City; one daughter, Patricia Loethen, St. Thomas; five brothers, Cornelius Wieberg, Groom, Texas, Robert Wieberg, St. Ann, Mike Wieberg, Jefferson City, Alfred Wieberg, Westphalia, and Frank Wieberg, Argyle; three sisters, Emma Meisel, St. Thomas, Christine Groner, St. Elizabeth, and Marie Cox, Newton, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. One son, Donald Frank Loethen, died June 23, 1984. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Antweiler will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30-8 p.m. today at the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall, with a senior citizens rosary at 4 p.m. and a wake service at 7 p.m."
