Sandra Bentke, 66, of Brenham, died Aug. 7, 2008, in Scott and White Hospital in Temple. Mrs. Bentke was born April 24, 1942, in Brenham, Texas, to Melvin and Lorine (Richter) Winkelmann. She was baptized May 31, 1942 in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville and was confirmed March 25, 1956, in the same church. Mrs. Bentke was a graduate of Brenham High School. On Nov. 7, 1964, she was married to William "Charlie" Bentke, in Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville. She was retired from Brookshire Bros. Survivors include her husband, William "Charlie" Bentke of Brenham; sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald and Jeri Bentke of Brenham and Brian and Robyn Bentke of Brenham; grandchildren, Lisa, Kyle, Ashley and Dylan Bentke; sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Floyd Bentke of Brenham; brothers and sister-in-law, Gary and Vickie Winkelmann of Bellville and Melvin "Bubba" Winkelmann of Brenham; sisters-in-law, Florence Bentke and Ella Mae Ruemke, both of Brenham; and brother-in-law, Tom Bentke of Brenham; nieces and nephews, Amy Winkelmann, Rikki and Darren Vacek, Tina Fenlon, Mandy and Jason Elston, Scott and Margie Winkelmann and Troy and Tim Bentke; aunts, Viola Koehn, Mildred Richter and Willie Mae Richter, all of Brenham; special friend, Sonja Martin; and numerous cousins and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters-in-law, Patricia "Cookie" Winkelmann and Myrtle Bentke; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Emil and Ella (Koehne) Bentke; and nephew, Matt Hensley. Visitation with the family will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be held Monday, Aug. 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dean Winkelmann, Troy Bentke, Tim Bentke, Darren Vacek, Michael Bentke, James Richter and Jason Elston. Honorary pallbearers will be Brookshire Bros. employees.
