A farmer and a resident of Centreville, Miss., for 40 years, he died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Field Memorial Hospital, Centreville. He was 78, born Nov. 29, 1921, in Friendship, Ark. He was a U.S. Army veteran. Visiting at Newman Funeral Home, Centreville, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday and after 8 a.m. Friday. Religious services in the funeral home chapel at 10 a.m. Friday, conducted by the Rev. Alvin Hall. Interment in Bethel Cemetery, Highway 569, Liberty, Miss. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Evelyn Freemyer, Centreville; three daughters, Dorothy White, Centreville, Martha Youngblood, Crystal Springs, Miss., and Mary James, Centreville; four sons, Ralph "Bud" Freemyer, Slaughter, Fred Freemyer, Ethel, Billy Freemyer, Liberty, and James Freemyer, Centreville; two sisters, Joyce Hughes, Liberty, and Barbara Minard, Oklahoma City; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, C.Y. and Martha Krock Freemyer; a son, Alvin Leon Freemyer; and a grandson, Jesse Freemyer. Pallbearers will be Cody Bridwell, Steven Bridwell, Jeffrey Youngblood, Billy David Freemyer, Randy Freemyer and Jay Freemyer. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Brian, Ellis Rogillio and Donald Smart. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
