Maria H. Arenas, a native Miamian, was born March 10, 1947 (Christian Hospital) and raised in "Overtown". She retired as a teacher and school administrator with Miami Dade Public Schools. A graduate of Miami Northwestern Senior High School, Class of 1965, she went on to to earn a BS in speech and drama from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University: a M. S. in Secondary Education Curriculum from Nova University and was currently a candidate for an E. D. from Nova University in Educational/Organizational Leadership.
Maria is the wife of Dr. J. A. "Chico" Arenas and mother of Patrice Arenas-Degraff (John Degraff, Emilio Arenas and Ascellia M. Arenas. She is the grandmother of 5 boys: Ahman Arenas, Jaquim Arenas, Khalif Arenas, Rahmir Napper, and Sultan Arenas.
She will be missed.
