Sister Daisy, as most people know her, has always been known for her deep love and commitment for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. In 1947, she gave her heart to the Lord during Spring Revival at Mount Zion Baptist Church in Loris. She was not allowed the join the church because her husband had been divorced. She did not let it stop her from serving her Lord. She read her Bible and prayed every day. She worked all of her life telling others about the Bible and Jesus. She had very strong beliefs. She could always tell you what the Bible said and where to find things in the scriptures. She shared the Bible with others through Bible studies in her home and on the radio. At the start of her radio ministry, some of the men did not like her being there, but they soon learned she was doing what God wanted her to do. They knew she was blessed and doing the will of God.

Mrs. Daisy's life was not an easy one. Being born with some of her fingers missing made life a little harder for her. She was sent to the Shriners' Children Hospital at age 5. They were going to remove her hands and replace them with claw pinchers. The Sunday before they were to leave she begged her dad not to let them do the procedure. She told him she would do everything her brothers and sister did. He told her if she would learn to tie her shoes, he would not let them remove her hands. She went to church and told everyone to pray for her so she could learn to tie her shoes. People prayed and worked with her and when she returned home, she showed her dad how she learned to tie her shoes. She never let her hands slow her down. She considered herself blessed by the Lord and promised to always serve Him. If you ever paid any attention to her right hand, it showed the sign language for I love you. She would hold it up and that was another way of her showing that she loved the Lord.

Her family were sharecroppers. Farming was their way of life. Mrs. Daisy may have only had one thumb, but it was a "green thumb"; she could grow anything. Her dad died of a stroke when she was twelve. Her mother had to bring in the crops with the help of her children. At thirteen, Mrs. Daisy was working at the paper mill in Georgetown. At 15, she was married. At 21, she was a mother of three. She had a love for learning. It took a while, but she earned her high school diploma in May 1989 at the age of 58. She made the front page of the local section of the Sun News newspaper. She earned a degree from Horry Georgetown Tech in Broadcast Journalism. She used this to work in many radio stations in Horry County. She worked at WKZQ, which was a hard rock station. It may be hard to imagine a Christian lady working there, but she saw it as another way to share Christ with others. She mostly worked at the radio stations in Loris (WLSC) and Tabor City (WTAB). She would put the other pastors and signers on the air.

A celebration of Mrs. Daisy's life and her "Home Going" will held on the Sabbath, Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Hardwick Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 2 pm to 4 pm with the Celebration of her life to begin at 4 pm. The committal service will be private. She will be laid to rest at Mount Zion Church Cemetery in Loris, SC.

The family would like to thank everyone for the food, drinks, telephone calls, and mostly the prayers for us. Please continue to pray for all of us in the months to come.

In lieu of flowers, it was Mrs. Daisy's request that memorials be made to your local Seventh Day Adventist Church or to your local church so that others may come to the saving knowledge of God's grace and mercy through His son, Jesus Christ.
