Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, December 18, 1950:
  Russell H. Richards of 603 St. Louis street, vice-president of the Richards Brick company, died Sunday at 7:25 a.m. at St. Anthony's hospital in Alton where he had been a patient for the past five months.
  He was born Oct. 9, 1867, in Edwardsville and had attained the age of 83 years, two months and eight days. He was the son of the late Ben H. and Jane Richards. He was married to Miss Edith Hadley on Feb. 2, 1888, at St. Louis.  Mrs. Richards survives.
  Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Jordan of San Diego, Calif., and Mrs. Florence Sills of this city; one son, Clarence Richards of Chicago; one brother, B.H. Richards of this city; four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Two sons, Homer and Eugene and one sister, Frances Richards, preceded him in death.
  At one time he operated a lumber company, Ford agency and was a hardware dealer in the Tri-Cities.
  Friends may call at the Marks-Weber funeral home after 3 o'clock Tuesday until 2 p.m. Wednesday when final rites will be held from the funeral home with the Rev. J.E. Attey officiating.
  The body will be taken to St. Louis for cremation.

Pallbearers were George Bugle of Highland, George Kinder of Mitchell, Champ Ogden of Granite City, Raymond Ringle of Belleville, Clyde Metcalf and Jim Chandler of Edwardsville.
