Opal Marie Thayer, 90, of Sallisaw, formerly of Muskogee, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 in Sallisaw. She was born April 13, 1923 in Sallisaw, the daughter of William and Ida Mae (Gregory) Maynard. She lived and worked in California returning to Sallisaw where she worked as a caregiver and cook. Opal married Frank Gann and later married Edward E. "Bumpy" Thayer and the couple made Muskogee their home. Opal had a servant's heart. She enjoyed baking, cooking, sewing, and spending time with her family. She taught herself to play the guitar. Edward preceded her in death on September 10, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, eight sisters, seven brothers, two grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
