Mr. Berry was born January 20, 1935 in Lisbon, a son of the late James M. Berry Sr, and the late Flora M. (Pannier) Berry and had lived his entire life in the Lisbon area.
Dean worked as an electrician at the former E.W. Bliss Company for more than 30 years, retiring in 1994. In his retirement, he worked for more than 17 years as a funeral assistant at the Eells-Leggett-Stauffer Funeral Home.
He was an active member of the Lisbon First United Methodist Church, where he served as a trustee and usher. Dean was also a member of the Church Council and drove the van for the Food Pantry.
Mr. Berry was also active in the community as a member of the Lisbon Ruritan Club.
Mr. Berry also proudly served our country as a member of the U. S. Army during peacetime.
Dean was an avid gardener and a general all-around handyman, who could create almost anything out of practically nothing. His laid back style and genuine friendliness will certainly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years, Jo Anne (Smith) Berry, whom he married April 14, 1961; daughter, Kella J. (Gary) Haren of Lisbon; sons, Steve (Holli) Berry of Dublin, Ohio and Tom (Patty) Watson of East Liverpool; brother, Donald L. (Mary) Berry of North Lima; grandchildren, Justin, Matt, Nate, Josh, Brooke, Ben, Patrick, Sara, Blake and Boston; and 7 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his brother, James M. Berry, Jr.
Burial with full military honors will follow in the Lisbon Cemetery.
