Hazel Haugen, daughter of Hans and Nettie (Aune) Haugen was born on August 8, 1922, on the family farm in the Pearl Lake Township of rural LaMoure, North Dakota. Hazel attended Pearl Lake Country School while growing up. She then married Raymond Anderson on October 19, 1940 at Fort Ransom, North Dakota. The couple made their home in the LaMoure area. Raymond passed away September 4, 1997.
Hazel loved working in her many flower gardens and also, being a homemaker.
Hazel died Wednesday, March 27, 2007, at the St. Rose Care Center in LaMoure. She was 84 years old.
Hazel is survived by five sons, Vernon (Linda), Bismarck, ND, Dennis (Sharon), Madera, CA, Gary (Laurel), San Diego, CA, Douglas, LaMoure, ND, and Kurt, Denver, CO; one daughter, JoAnn (Dennis) Loewen, Sykeston, ND, three brothers, Kenneth, Verona, ND, Leo and Robert, both of New Jersey; one sister, Sally (Harold) Hopedahl, Moorhead, MN; eleven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Her husband, parents, four sons, and two great-granddaughters preceded Hazel in death.
Pallbearers for the service will be Larry Harmsen, Larry Exner, Wilfred Masset, Darell Haugen, Danny Haugen, and Kenneth Haugen Jr. Special music will be provided by Jan Hird as organist, Marcia Young as pianist and Lynette Anderson as soloist.
