He was a son of John and Mary Ann (Ritter) Kochenderfer and was born in Saville Township, November 1, 1847, hence his age at the time of his death was 81 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was first married to Mary Jane Simonton, to whom two sons were born, Harry Musser and Charles Elmer Kochenderfer. His second wife was Mary Catherine Shope, to whom three sons were born, Samuel, Harvey Ritter and Frank. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Harry, Charles Elmer and Frank of Ickesburg, and Samuel of Detroit, Mich. His son, Harvey, of Detroit, preceded him to the spirit world this past winter. He is also survived by two brothers, Edgar and Charles Kochenderfer, of Newport.
Mr. Kochenderfer had been a sufferer since last autumn. Through the excellent care he received from his devoted wife and family his many friends had hoped that he would be permitted to remain with us during the spring and summer, but Providence ordered it otherwise.
He joined the Reformed Church in youth, of which he always remained a loyal member. In politics he was a staunch Democrat. He was a man that will be missed as he had many friends in our community.
Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church, Tuesday at 10 a.m. conducted by his pastor, Rev. S.W. Beck. Burial in the cemetery at Saville.
