Larry Henry Blackwell, Sr., 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2013 after an extended illness.
Mr. Blackwell was born June 12, 1944 to the late Henry Roland Blackwell and Myrtle Smith Blackwell of Greer.
Mr. Blackwell was a retired, loyal and faithful employee of J.P. Stevens for 34 years and attended Community Baptist Church of Wellford.
Mr. Blackwell loved woodworking, growing flowers, John Wayne movies, beach trips, his four-legged companion "Charlie Brown" and numerous other activities as well as being devoted to his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joyce Turner Blackwell of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Larry "Rusty" and Cathy Blackwell of Greer; a daughter and fiancé, Lanese Blackwell and Stacey Gilbert of Easley; a son-in-law, Mike Lester of Greenville; four grandchildren, Kyle Blackwell of Greer, Stephanie Lester of Greenville, Kristen Lester of Easley, and Caitlin Lester of Easley; a brother, Tommy Blackwell and his companion, Connie Lane of Wellford.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, John and Sallie Blackwell and J. Abner and Tweety Smith all of Greer.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Community Baptist Church, Wellford, conducted by Rev. John Patterson and Rev. Bill Jolly. Internment will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Kinser, Roger Wells, Ricky Parham, Mike St. Peter, Brian DeVito, Billy Joe Ballew, Jack Tate, and Mike Turner.
Visitation will be held 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.
