A 22 year-old Shoemaker from Enfield, MA, Saunders enlisted December 3, 1863 and was mustered into service on December 10th. Taken prisoner at Plymouth, NC on April 20, 1864, Saunders died of Dysentery at Andersonville on September 9, 1864.
