NETTLETON – Thomas A. Walls, 66, died on Monday, June 24, 2013, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Born on Dec. 15, 1946, in Slate Springs, he was a son of Mary Ellen Clements Walls Burleson and the late Duell Walls. He attended Calhoun City schools. He married Betty Cavender on Feb. 7, 2002. Before becoming disabled, he was a heavy equipment operator with Eutaw, Kent and Hill Construction companies. He attended Central Grove Baptist Church. A hardworking, outgoing person who had a great personality, he was a jokester, antique collector, and enjoyed country music. He was passionate about helping others. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Betty C. Walls of Nettleton; his mother, Mary Burleson of Amory; daughters, Melesa Walls of Nettleton and Angela Walls Hammontree (Daryl) of Mantachie; brother, Allen Walls (Wilma) of Nettleton; grandchildren, Jeffery Eugene Sullivan, Hunter Garrett Holley, Dave Mills, Tiffany Mills, PV2 Timothy Langley, USARNG, Nathaniel Langley, Joseph Chaves and Joshua Chaves; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 27, at E.E. Pickle Funeral Home with Bro. Rob Westbrook officiating. Burial will follow in Hatley Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jeffery Sullivan, Hunter Holley, Timothy Langley, Nathaniel Langley, Joshua Chaves and Patrick Foster. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Eutaw Construction.

Visitation will be from noon to 1:50 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
