Richard Stokeley of Near Decker Dies Suddenly Sunday
Richard Stokeley, Sr., age 73, died suddenly at the home of his son, Richard Stokeley, Jr., north of Decker about 9:30 o'clock Sunday morning. Mr. Stokeley had been in good health and death was unexpected. He complained of illness Sunday morning and his son went in Decker for a physician. While waiting in the doctor's office for the latter to return, the son received word from home that his father had died.
Surviving besides the son are two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Coleman of 1222 Short street, Vincennes, and Mrs. Sarah Plass, Vincennes. He also leaves a brother, William, of Decker.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Salem church, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Manso Nightingale, of Vincennes, will officiate. (obit correction by Gale..Sarah Plass was a sister, not daughter).
