Booneville, KY – Rev. Wayne Spencer Amburgy, 84, of the Pebworth Community, husband of Gertrude Barrett Amburgy, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2005, at the Kentucky River Medical Center in Jackson, Ky. He was born December 20, 1920, in Lerose, Ky., to the late Floyd Day and Jalah Spencer Amburgy.

He had a very active Christian life as a minister of the Assembly of God, he traveled with a singing quartet, along with his wife, Gertrude. They aired "Supper Time: on the radio to the surrounding areas, and he took part in forming the Ministerial Association in Owsley County. He was also a member of the Owsley County Saddle Club, the Lions Club for over 50 years, and the Historical Society. He was the owner and operator of the W. S. Amburgy & Sons Store and a Kentucky Colonel.

Along with his wife of 58 years, he is survived by two sons, Randell and wife, Mary, and Kendall and wife, Judy; and two granddaughters, Shelby and husband, Sam and Stacy and husband, Tim. Other survivors are three brothers: Willis Blaine, Ellis Leo and Cotton Amburgy; two sisters, Ola Faye Roblin and Viola Kay Amburgy and a host of friends and relatives.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, February 1, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at the Booneville Funeral Home with the Rev. Garry Amburgy officiating. Visitation was held on Monday evening at the funeral home from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. Burial in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery at Booneville with the Booneville Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were: Ellis Leo, Brent, Jamie, Keith and Michael Amburgy and Anthony and Luke Bowman. Honorary pallbearers were Willis Blaine and Cotton Amburgy.
