Son of Michael Hetrick and Catherine Acker of Blair County, Pennsylvania;
This information is from the National Archives for W. S. Hetrick. He was mustered in on July 24, 1861 and served with "Battery G, Pennsylvania Reserve Light Artillary" as a private. He died July 19, 1863 at Gettysburg PA of wounds received in action on July 2, 1863, which was day 2 of the Battle of Gettysburg. Additional information from a park ranger given to Jeff Weber--William is buried in the graveyard of the Presbyterian Church near Gettysburg.
