Henry's WWI Registration card in the year 1918 has his permanent address in Columbus, Cherokee County, Kansas. His occupation was as accountant for Sheffield & Colbert of Alabama; his local draft board was located at Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
The 1920 US Federal census enumerates Henry living with a wife, Essie, in Jonesboro, Jackson Parish, Louisiana and working in bridge construction for the highway department.
