Fortunato "Fred" Sisco, a tailor, was a naturalized Calabrese Italian immigrant and resident of Berwyn for over 40 years. He died at Oak Park Hospital, after an illness of several years.
He was survived by 5 amazingly successful children (all now deceased). One, John Sisco, became an U.S. Assistant Secretary of State and longtime Diplomat, who did Middle East shuttle diplomacy under Secy. of State Henry Kissinger. Another, August Sisco, was a journalist who became Chicago Sun Times City Editor. And the last living child being Paul Carmen Sisco, UPI Washington D.C. News Film Division Chief, who died in Bethesda, MD, in February 2023, just one day shy of his 97th birthday. In 1963 UPI flew him, and two other UPI Chicago employees, a cameraman and a sound engineer, to Dallas to cover the JFK assassination within an hour of the shots.
Rest in Peace...
