Harold H. Ottmers, 78, of Sunrise Beach, Texas, died July 1, 2005. He was born December 25, 1926, in Cave Creek, Texas, to Helmuth and Alma (Koennecke) Ottmers.

In his youth he plowed with a team of horses. He planted and harvested corn and feed crops, fed and attended livestock, and drove a wheel type tractor on a 160 acre farm with 60 acres under cultivation.

He proudly served his country in the US Army. He served in the European theatre of operations for a period of time as a Light Mortar Crewman possessing knowledge and experience in operating a mortar and making repairs on the weapon. He also served as a translator during the Nuhremberg Trials. He received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.

He married Joyce Mueller on April 24, 1949, in Twin Sisters, Texas, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They were married for 56 years prior to her death in June. He worked as a sales and regional manager of Rex Supply retiring to Sunrise Beach and becoming very active in the community. He will be fondly remembered as a City of Sunrise Beach commissioner and builder and for his service on the Llano Appraisal Board.

He is survived by his daughters, Marilyn Weidman and her husband, Richard, of San Antonio, TX, and Meryl Jean Ottmers of Sunrise Beach, TX; and sons, Carey Ottmers and his wife, Ruth, of Flower Mound, TX, and Neal Ottmers and his wife, Lydia, of Huffman, TX; 8 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild. Also, surviving him are Mrs. Guenther (Clara) Ottmers, Mrs. Gilbert (Irene) Ottmers, Mrs. James (Gladys) Ottmers, and Mr. John Campagna.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brothers, Guenther and Gilbert, and sisters, Minna Novian and Norma Campagna.

A visitation will be held at Putnam Funeral Home in Kingsland, Texas, on Monday, July 4, 2005, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2005, at St. Peter s Lutheran Church in Marble Falls, Texas. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet, Texas. Pastor E. David Henry will officiate.

Honorary pallbearer will be Jim White. Pallbearers are Clifton Ottmers, Steven Ottmers, Michael Ottmers, Matthew Ethridge, Marcus Ethridge, and Tim Nance.
