A lifelong resident of Wallingford, she was a graduate of Lyman Hall High School and Southern Connecticut State University, with a BS degree in Special Education, and a Masters degree in Early Childhood Development.
She had been a special education teacher in the Wallingford, Durham, and Middlefield Public School Systems, and had been the head teacher at the Masonic Children's Center in Wallingford. She was a member of the Wallingford, Connecticut, and National Education Associations, and was a parishioner of Most Holy Trinity Church.
In her selfless manner, and in her concern for the well being of others and the environment, she had initiated a sponsorship program for holiday giving for homeless and needy children in Wallingford, and had been a director of the Child Guidance Clinic of Meriden. She had also been a board member of the People Against Garbage Burning.
Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by her parents, Joseph G. and Mildred T. Dorsey Tenczar of Wallingford; and her brother, Joseph G. Tenczar, Jr. of Madison; a niece, Laura K. Tenczar; a nephew, Erik J. Tenczar; her godmother, Rosemarie (Mrs. Basil) Cornaglia of Wallingford; her cousins, Maria and Donald Lunt of Wallingford, Carolyn Farnham of Delray, FL, and Carl and Lucy Cornaglia of Wallingford; and other cousins, nieces and nephews; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Marie and Albert Sullivan, and Phyllis Donahe of Arlington, MA, Michael and Sally Donahe of Rescue, CA, and Leslie and Chitoshi Donahe of Salem, OR. She was predeceased by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leslie and Marie (Manganaro) Donahe; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Barbara Donahe.
Her family will receive relatives and friends in the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main St. Extension, Wallingford, TODAY, 4-8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., when the cortege will proceed to Most Holy Trinity Church, 68 North Colony St., Wallingford, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the in Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford.
