Suvilla Smoker Kauffman, age 106, of Gap, died on Sunday, June 23, 2013 at her home. Born in Gordonville on December 31, 1906, she was the daughter of the late Isaac & Hannah Zook Smoker. She was the wife of the late Christian B. Kauffman, son of the founder of Kauffman Fruit Farm in Bird-In-Hand, who died September 16, 1966. She was a member of Mine Road Amish Mennonite Church of Paradise. Suvilla spent many hours at her sewing machine, sewing dresses for relief, and was still sewing at age 104. She was a bird and nature lover.
She will be lovingly remembered by her surviving children: Raymond husband of Minerva Beiler Kauffman of Bird-In-Hand, Allen husband of Susie King Kauffman of Mifflintown, daughter-in-law, Freida Stoltzfus Kauffman of Intercourse, Lillian Beiler of Paradise, Verda wife of Eli Glick of El Salvador, Judy wife of Edwin Beiler of Belize, Iva wife of Thomas Lapp of Gap, 33 grandchildren, 128 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul Kauffman; son-in-law, Calvin Beiler; great grandson, Titus Glick and 10 siblings.
Funeral service and burial will be held on Wednesday, June 26th, at 10 a.m. at Weavertown Amish Mennonite Church, 2903 Church Road, Bird-In-Hand, PA. A viewing will take place on Tuesday evening, June 25th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Mine Road Amish Mennonite Church, 5101 Mine Road, Paradise.
