He was 84-years-old.
Educated in the Salt Lake public schools and a graduate of West High School. In 1940 he married Larona Woolley; this marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Following her death, in 1968. He married Wanda Richards Day. He was a long-time resident of Salt Lake City (Rose Park) and Bountiful.
Veteran of World War II.
Active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He and Wanda served a mission in Hawaii from 1985-87.
He served as president of the Rose Park area Western Baseball for Boys (WBBA) during the 1960's.
Owned and operated Hansen's Quality Metal and Paint for 35 years where his reputation for craftsmanship was recognized throughout the state. He received many awards for his restoration of custom and vintage cars. He enjoyed his golf game and had a group of friends that golfed and traveled together for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Wanda; four of his five children, William Hansen, Centerville, VA; Niel Hansen, Carla Hansen, Maren Hansen, all of the Salt Lake area; five step-children, Margaret Day Ritchie, Barbara Day Lewis, Kenneth Day, Duane Day, all of the Salt Lake area; Janeen Day Landram, St. Charles, MO; 24 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Loel Hansen Carlson, Magna, UT.
His son, Lee, passed away in 1992.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 14, 2000, 12 noon at the Riverview Ward, 1325 West 5550 South, Taylorsville.
Friends may call Sunday, February 13, 2000, 7-9:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Monday at the church one hour prior to services. Interment, Centerville Cemetery.
