He was born Nov 4, 1907, in Latrobe, a son of the late Joseph E. and Caroline (Nair) Gordon.
Prior to his retirement in 1970, he was employed by Standard Steel in Latrobe and had 44 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Latrobe and sang in the church choir for many years. He also sang tenor in several community choruses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his only son, Lynn Melvin, in 1978; three brothers, Emerson, Raymond and Eddie, and three sisters, Edna Kepple, Violet Ruth Gordon and Dolly R. Morris.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Gertrude Alice Greene Gordon; a brother, C. Elwood of ligonier; two grandchildren, Joseph E. Gordon and Sarah Lynn Gordon, and their mother, Edith Gordon; two great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service and interment in Unity Cemetery, Unity Township, will be private.
