Charles Clayton "Mike" McDermott, 73 of Maumelle, went to be with the Lord June 24, 2013. He was born on January 21, 1940 to Lloyd and Verna McDermott in Lake Village, AR.

Mike attended and graduated in 1958 from McGehee High School where he was an All Star Athlete. He then scholarshipped in football at Southern State in Magnolia and Henderson in Arkadelphia. Following college, he played semi-pro football in Jacksonville, FL.

He is survived by his lovely bride of 47 years, Janis K. McDermott; four children, Malissa McDermott of Benotn, Jim and Tisha McDermott of Cabot, Mark and Jan McDermott of Little Rock, Lori McDermott of Cabot; three grandchildren, Nichole Wilson, Clayton McDermott, and Kaitlyn McDermott; two great-grandchildren, Dylan Wilson and Lyric Pierce; and sister, Pat and Phillip Scavo of Hot Springs.

He has faithfully attended Agape Church in Little Rock for the past 22 years. He will be greatly missed by a host of family, church family and close friends, but he has fought the good fight, finished his course and kept the faith, and has joined a greater cloud of witnesses on the streets of gold.

Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2013, 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at Agape Church, 701 Napa Valley Dr., Little Rock with funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at noon at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery in North Little Rock.
