Mira Eliza McGee was the daughter of Thomas McGee of Mecklenburg County, NC.

In 1853 Mira married William Beaty of Gaston County, NC. He was the son of Robert A. & Nancy Elizabeth Leeper Beaty.

William and Mira made their home in Mecklenburg County, NC. near her parents. They had two children, Felix Thomas Beaty and Mary W. Beaty.

William Beaty died in late 1858; his Mecklenburg County, NC Estate was probated in Jan Court 1859.

Mira Eliza McGee Beaty, then married James H. Alexander, who was killed in the Civil War.

She and James Alexander had one child, Caroline Alexander

Mira continued to lived on the land where she and William Beaty had lived in present-day Long Creek Township, Mecklenburg County, NC.

Daughter Callie told of being schooled, along with the former slave children, on her mother's farm.

(A few years later Callie moved to Bowie County, TX near New Boston, with McGee kin. Ed Rankin either had gone to Texas with the McGees or followed Callie there. At any rate, they were married there, but returned to Mecklenburg County, NC.)
