I suspect that she may have died in childbirth as her 3rd child was born the same week that she died
-----
Emily Daniell Bratton
By far the saddest funeral in the history of Hereford occurred here Wednesday, when the remains of Mrs. W.E. [sic] Bratton were laid to rest, the Rev. J.T. Burnett of Canyon officiating. She was taken with a severe rigor Saturday evening followed by another six hours after. Under prompt medical aid she seemed to rally, but her improvement was only seeming and on Tuesday she yielded to that terrible disease, puerperal fever.
Emily Daniel [sic]was born at Prescott, Arkansas, Dec. 30, 1876.
She came to Texas with her parents in her childhood, was married to W. T. Bratton at De Leon, Texas, October 4, 1896. They came to the plains in May, 1898, stopping at Canyon until the following September when they removed to Hereford, where they have since resided. She was converted at the age of 14 and united with the Baptist church and has lived a consistent christian ever since.
Deceased leaves a husband and three children, the youngest only a week old, a father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Daniell of Brownwood, Texas, six brothers - Nilford Daniell of Hope, Ark., Nel and Frank Daniel [sic] of De Leon, Texas, W. H. and George Daniell, Brownwood, Texas, and Eugene Daniell who lives in the state of Oregon. Four sisters - Mrs. J.S. Allmand and Mrs. Luna Daniels of Brownwood, Texas, Mrs. Budd Middleton of Killeen, Texas, and Miss Alice Daniell who still resides with her parents. She leaves very many friends in Hereford for no one could meet her and form her acquaintance without being her friend.
The bereaved husband, who found in her his ideal bride, and whose attachment for her only increased with years as she proved his ideal of a wife and mother, has the sincere sympathy of the entire community, but only he who has had a similar experience can truly sympathize with him in this, his hour of bereavement and loneliness. And the little ones thus left without a mother's care before they have learned to appreciate a mother, have the prayers of the christian people that they may be kept from the evil by which they are surrounded and that they may all be reunited in that Heaven to which the wife and mother has gone, there to await their coming.
Interment was made in the Hereford cemetery.
