BAXTER, Joyce, age 83 of Rochester Hills, MI, was born in Crofton, KY on January 15, 1930 to Norman and Berdie Pyle. She passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 20, 2013.

She was a dedicated and devoted mother and raised her two children alone after her husband Al died at a young age in 1970. Family was her greatest joy and her grandchildren along with her son-in-law and daughter-in-law were no exception as they all held a very special place in her heart. Joyce had a great sense of humor and was well liked by everyone she encountered. She was an avid reader, loved her daily crossword puzzles, and loved traveling with the Nomads group to various places in the U.S. and Mexico. Her presence in our life was a gift we will always be thankful for. Joyce loved living at Mercy Bellbrook where she resided for the last five years of her life. She was provided with loving care and the family gives the staff their deepest appreciation and gratitude for all they did for her. She will be greatly missed by her many friends there.

Joyce was the beloved wife of the late Alan Baxter; loving mother of Margaret Lomasney (David) and Michael Baxter (Jill); dear grandmother of Adam, Brittany, Megan, Mikayla, and Aaron; dear aunt of Vickie Guck (Terry) and great-aunt of Lisa and Craig.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 23, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Rd (btw Maple and Big Beaver Rds.), Troy, 248-362-2500. A Funeral Service celebrating her life will be held the following day Monday, June 24, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial following at Resurrection Cemetery. Memorial tributes may be made to: Leader Dogs For The Blind, Philanthropy Department, P.O. Box 5000, Rochester, MI 48308-5000. - See more at: http://www.desmondfuneralhome.com/obituary?
