"Tuesday morning, September 23, one of Long Island's oldest residents passed away. Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Hubbs, widow of George E. Hubbs, was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Van Size of Bethpage & was born September 16, 1848, 98 years ago. In early life she was married to George E. Hubbs of Bethpage and for many years they were farmers there. Upon his retirement they moved to Farmingdale where she has lived ever since. Mrs. Hubbs was an exceptional old lady, being active in the affairs of the community until about a year ago. At the age of 91 she attended the World's Fair which she greatly enjoyed. For several years she has made her home with Mr. & Mrs. August Walter, Mrs. Walter being her great neice. She is survived by one neice, Mrs. F.A. Baylis of Huntington, a nephew, Mr. E.A. Van Sise of Farmingdale, several great-neices and great-nephews, and a number of great-great neices and nephews. Funeral services were held today (Thursday) at the Farmingdale Methodist Church at 2:30 P.M. with the Rev. Mr. Reith officiating and the interment was in the Bethpage Cemetery".
