RILEY
Riley, May 20, 1902 (Monday)---Yesterday morning, May 19, 1902 there was hurled over this and adjoining counties, by telephone, the sad news of Mrs. Sallie Edward's death. Deceased was the wife of T.D. Edwards, of Riley, Ky., and daughter of Thomas Floyd, Penick, Ky. She was 38 years of age, was married May 28, 1885, and was a consistent member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for over 20 years. She leaves a husband and ten children to mourn her loss; she survived her darling babe only a few days. Mrs. Edwards has been in feeble health for some time, having been confined to her room about seven weeks, her heart being effected, which must have caused her death. Her affliction was borne by her with out a murmur. She was a faithful, loving wife and mother. No woman was ever more devoted to her husband and children that was Mrs. Edwards. No one on this community will be more missed than she; as she was never known to turn a deaf ear to any favor asked by a neighbor. No one ever called at her door for a meal but was their wants were supplied; the sick in the community always received from her table something that would suit their delicate appetite. We fall so short in penning the grief stricken family's sorrow in this death. Besides her heart broken family she leaves father, mother, one brother, one sister and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral took place Wednesday. In loving remembrance of Mrs. Edwards, who departed this life May 19, 1902. It was on a Monday morning, about the time the clock struck four, Mrs. Edwards gave up her toiling, and crossed the golden shore.
