A celebration of his life will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 18, at the Barnes Fire House.
A graveside service will follow at 5 p.m. at the Maplewood Cemetery, Barnes.
John Hogue was born Sept. 24, 1922, at Barnes, the son of Walter and Gertrude Bowlus Hogue.
He graduated from Barnes High School in 1941, enlisted in the Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged as an aviation machinist mate second class in 1945.
He was a farmer and drove for the Pony Express Courier until retirement.
He was recently honored as a 65-year member of the American Legion.
He married Alberta Tiemeyer May 5, 1944, at Hollywood, Calif.
Survivors include his sons, John Hogue, Kas, Turkey, Brian Hogue, Puntarenas, Costa Rica; his daughters Janis O'Bryan, Carrollton, Texas, and Roxanne Dunn, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, on May 4, 2006; and his sister, Dorothy Balderson.
