Edmund was the 13th, and last, child of David More and Elizabeth Gould More. His father was a farmer at Roxbury and, in 1839, bought a farm at Walton to where the family (Edmund and seven siblings still lived at home) relocated permanently. Edmund married to Mary Hughes on 13 October 1863 at Hobart, New York. They made their home at Walton on the family farm there. Edmund retired about 1905. He and Mary were the parents of three sons; John who married to Ella Trask, John who married to Ellen Murray, and Edmund Junior who married to Leah Huntington.
