Funeral services for Johannes Schaap were held Monday afternoon in the First Reformed church with Rev. R. Bronkema officiating.
Mr. Schaap died Thursday evening following complications which were caused by a broken hip which he received in a fall the previous Sunday.
The deceased was born in Gorkum, Z.H, Netherlands, on May 2, 1845.
In 1856 he came to South Holland, Ill., and about 40 years later moved to Rock Valley, this county.
On March 31, 1897, he married Miss Elizabeth Verduin, who, with seven children survives.
