Alford James "Al" Miller, 75, of Stamford passed away Saturday, January 5, 2008. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 7, 2008, at Fort Phantom Baptist Church with Revs. Bill Dickson and Dave Douglas officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery under the direction of Kinney-Underwood Funeral Home in Stamford.

Al was born on August 23, 1932, in Needmore, Texas, to the late Abram Alphus "Abe" and Dovie Lee Jackson Miller. He married Jo Ann Pruitt on May 15, 1953, in Texico, New Mexico. They moved to Hawley from the Muleshoe area in 1978 and then to Stamford in 1999. Al attended Fort Phantom Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; three sons, Danny Miller, Eddie Miller, and Bruce Pruitt; three sisters, Ruth Swanner, Ann Gray, and Dean Hudspeth; and a brother, Jack Miller.

Surviving Al are wife, Jo Ann Miller of Stamford; three daughters, Dovie Knowles and husband, Lanny of Stamford, Mary Jo Bond and husband, Monty of Bridgeport, and Darla Davis and husband, Nicky of Hawley; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosie McFarland of Hawley, and Myrtle Schoolcraft of Wickett; and brother, Tommy Miller of Delhi, Louisiana.
