Anna Lou Anderson McCoy, 88, of Niota, died Friday, June 14, 2013, at Rhea County Medical Center in Dayton. A native of Sweetwater, and a lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late James Bruce and Vida Elizabeth Cook Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Earl McCoy; one sister, Ellen Hale; and two brothers, Elbert and J.B. Anderson. She was retired from Niota Textile. She was one of the oldest members of Union-McMinn Baptist Church and loved her family and church. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law, Gracie Lou and Jack Nunley of Athens, and Norma Sue Higginbotham of Spring City; four sons, Eddie McCosh and Larry McCosh, both of Niota, Jimmy McCosh of Athens, and Robert Lowry of Niota; one brother, James Sanford Anderson of Niota; two sisters, Polly Dotson and Meda Wicker, both of Niota; five grandchildren, Irene Higginbotham, Rose Nabors, Phyllis White, Cody Nunley and Rebecca Webb; seven great-grandchildren, Daren and Cassidy Higginbotham, Bradley Nabors, Wekenda Dockery, Russell White, Reese White and Regina Hall; and several nieces, nephews and friends. A special thanks to Rose Nabors, her beloved granddaughter, for being her caregiver. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Union-McMinn Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Alexander officiating. Burial will follow in Foster Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Jackie Reed, Charles Reed, David Reed, Cody Nunley, Brad Nabors, Don Reed, Howie White and Bryan Coffey. The body will lie in-state from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Union-McMinn Baptist Church, P.O. Box 269, Niota, TN 37826.
